Awesome EVO Fights

Daigo (Yun) Vs. Latiff (C. Viper)

Wow its hard to watch an EVO match of Daigo losing but this video proves that even the very best have their offdays.

                     Daigo (Ryu) Vs. OnlineTony (Seth)

Hsien Chang (Yun) vs Vangief (Zangief)

Justin Wong (Rufus) vs MOV (Ken)

Fuudo (Fei Long) Vs Latiff (C. Viper)

This was the Winners Bracket for EVO 2011. Got to give to Fuudo. He completely outplayed Latiff in this match, and after Latiffs recent victory over Daigo and Poogko, I expected a huge comeback.

TOP 10 BEST BADASS FIGHTING GAME CHARACTERS OF THE WEEK

10.)                       King Of Fighters
                               Kyo Kusanagi

Now let me first say I always liked Kyo. He's kinda of a cross between the appearance of Ryu with the fiery flashy fighting style of Ken; emphasis on fiery.  As the main protagonist of the King of Fighters series, Kyo earns his spot in the Top 10 Badass fighing games characters

9.)                           Marvel vs Capcom
Strider Hiryu

The only silent ninja I know who rocks purple and red so well. Strider Hiryu is definitely my favorite fighting ninja. Fans of the MvC genre can definitely you how badass this ninja can get. With the title of fastest character in the game along with deadly combos that could end that match within 10 seconds Strider Hiryu is definitely a forced to be reckoned with.

   8.)                      Super Street Fighter 4
                                  Cody Travers

At Number 8 we have Cody Travers from the Super Street Fighter 4. (originally Final Fight) Man, there are so many things awesome about this character. The fact that he fights with handcuffs alone as a handicap should be enough convince anyone. But what I love about Cody is the fact he is actually the only real Street Fighter in the Street Fighter series. Using anything he finds on the streets as a weapon, (i.e. knifes, wrenches and rocks that can dispel hadokens) Cody is no doubt a symbol of Badassness.

7.)                                           Rival Schools
                                   Batsu Ichimonji

For Number 7 I chose Batsu from one the Rival Schools series. Let me start off by saying at first glance appears to be is another one of those Ryu lookalikes, but despite having to live in the shadow of Ryu ,Batsu stands out as a more fiercer and hot-headed fighter. Being an original fan of Rival Schools myself I can honestly say I had a lot of fun using Batsu as well as his more serious version Burning Batsu.

6.)                                     Super Street Fighter 4
                                       Juri  Han

Can't have a Top 10 Badass List without my girl Juri.  This sadistic femme fettale was one of the reasons I decided to even buy Street Fighter 4 in first place. A sexy dangerous and cold hearted women who fights for the sheer thrill of the battle, Juri is probably the only female I acknowledge as badass in the Street Fighter or any Fighting game genre. (no offense to you Chun Li lovers)

5.)                                       Tekken
                                     Jin Kazama

I had so much debate for over choosing Jin or Kazuya for this spot, but in the end it was Jin all they way.  The only fighter who brings as mix of swag, skills, and obviously badassness to the table.  With amazing fighting skills that rival even Ryu (Check Street Fighter X Tekken) as well as being the first fighter in gaming history to actually have a great sense of style Jin definitely makes his mark in fighting game history.

4.)                                   BlazBlue
                        RagnaThe Bloodedge

At Number 4, my man Ragna from the BlazBlue saga. This rushdown heavy blade wielding vampire is one of the best fighting game characters I've seen around. If you dont believe me check out any videos of him on YouTube.  I simply can't get enough of watching him kick ass in a online fight, even if it's my ass getting kick.

 3.)                       X-Men vs Street Fighter
                                Wolverine

Boy I am running out of words. As we hit the Final Top 3   Anyone with a decent childhood should automatically know this guy. A mutant enhanced by the procedures of the Weapon X  project. Wolverine is the very defnition of badass himself. And since its getting late i'm gonna make this short and sweet. Wolverine's a beast. He's fast as hell, his blades can slice through almost anything and he's technically the only mutant to ever beat the devil (Read X-Men comics for more info)  Finally he was added onto the X-Men vs Street Fighter genre as well as in Marvel vs Capcom, giving me the power to put him in my Top 3 spot.

2.)                    Marvel Superheros Vs. Street Fighters
                                     Cyber Akuma

As we draw near the end, I couldn't be happier with this choice. For those of you who don't know Cyber Akuma is the last boss of the Marvel Superheros vs Street Fighter game.  Being infused my Apocolypse's cybernetic material. Cyber Akuma becomes the strongest boss you'll ever face. (It took me about 55 tries to beat him) With spilt second instant kill Raging Demon, Cyber Akuma lands himself in the Top 2 spots left.

2.)                          Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition
                                                                      Evil Ryu

And last but not least we reach Evil Ryu. After being consumed by the Satsui no Hado Ryu hits this dark transformation and let me tell you he couldn't be anymore awesomer if he tried.  The whole dark gi and and red eyes is a real cool look for. I chose E Ryu as Number 1 because I love the whole of a dark transformation on a regularly good character. With his newfound power Ryu becoms an bloodthirsty monster who only thinks about victory and winning at any cost.

BlazBlue Review

 BlazBlue Review
I’ve been talking a lot about street fighter lately so I decided to change it up a bit.

The next game I want talk about is a little something I called BlazBlue. Now I’m a bit new to the game BlazBlue franchise so you'll have to forgive my slightly poor mini review. I’ve only been playing this game for about a year but I have to say this game kicks so much ass. First off the artwork in this game is amazing. The makers of Akysys and Arc Systems Works games are really dedicated to the old 2D fighting animation which many OG Gamers can really appreciate.   I also enjoy the specific designs for each character. Ragna the Bloodedge is definitely in my Top 10 favorite fighting game characters, Jin Kisaragi as well. Each character is so specifically drawn, and have their own unique fighting skills which makes them all the more fun to use and master. The battle music is also amazing, and really gets you pumped. From personal experience I learned to appreciate the music after being stuck in a boss fight for 3 hours.

 LISTEN AND YOUR WELCOME

I also love how talented the voice acting is in this game. Let me tell you I've been an old school gamer since I was in kindergarten and I've seen my share of bad voice-acting in the day. (Play Megaman X4 and X7 if you don’t believe me)
DEFINTELY NOT GOOD VOICE ACTING

But the BlazBlue series definitely delivers. Patrick Seitz really makes Ragna come alive (I couldn't stop get "Carnage Scissors out of my head for a week), and as a competitive game player nothings sound more beautiful than hearing voice acting in a heated online match which brings me to my next topic. The gameplay is also worth mentioning. Almost every character has such unique combos and specials that make me want to shed a tear. Each character also has an “Instant Kill” attack that has beautiful graphic animations. And if you’re into improving your BlazBlue skills characters also have a plethora of combos to learn making competitive play fun and worthwhile.  But aside from the high aspects of the game I did notice some small negatives too the small selection of characters; a total of 19 to be more specific.
I know many people will argue that that's a fair amount but I'm a man who loves options. There’s also that annoying overbalance of females than males in the game, which is great if you're in that stuff, but that kind of irks me. Seriously check out the next BlazBlue game coming out. (Chrono Phantasma for those of you who don’t know) Almost all the new characters are females or androgynous.  Aside from that, BlazBlue comes out on top as a true fighting game.  With a great storyline, dedicated voice acting and beautiful adrenaline pumping music, BlazBlue is a game I recommend buying.

I also reccommend checking out Chrono Phantasma hopefully coming out soon.
Check out more gaming posts from me Gray later on in the future.

GUIDE TO IMPROVE IN SUPER STREETFIGHTER 4 AE

HOW TO GET GOOD AT FIGHTING GAMES – STREET FIGHTER ARCADE EDITION

I know there are a lot of “how to improve your gaming guides” online but, to be honest, I think they’re too broad and not specific enough to help, so I’m gonna try to give a more in depth guide.

1.       The first step in improving your gaming skills is practice (Yeah that’s obvious). They don’t make Training Mode for nothing you know. Practice your combos and tactics.  Every character has a basic combo that deals fair damage.  This is what most players call a bread and butter (BnB) combo.  Constantly practice this basic combo, because in an online fight, this will come in handy, trust me.

2.      Next go out and do some online fights. This will give you the experience you need to help improving your gaming skills.  I can’t tell you have many times I’ve seen people try to improve their Street Fighter skills by fighting computer because they’re afraid to lose their rank or player points on live.  Let me tell you right now, aside from getting hit with the same combos again and again, computer has nothing to offer in terms of improvement. Fighting online, however, will get you better insight on how other players react, combos etc.

                                                                 JUST JUMP CAMMY

3.      Next, and I cannot stress this enough, low punch and low kick are your best friends in this game trust me. Almost every beginner makes the mistake of focusing on H Kick and H Punch because it does more damage. Even though that’s true, those attacks are too slow and very predictable.  Using low punch in strings of combos is much faster, and easy to connect with.

4.      Watch YouTube videos. This is, arguably, one of the best tips I can give you.  There are so many great players who are willing to share their combos and tricks with you. Watch their videos and try to learn their moves. I can honestly tell you that I have learned a lot simply from this tip.  Also make sure to watch the latest EVO tournaments to get a good idea of how the best’s players play such as Daigo, and Justin Wong (If you’re really into Street Fighters you should definitely know who these people are)

This isnt SF 4, but I just love this match.
EPIC COMEBACK 4 THE WIN

5.      Another important tip in improving your Street Fighter skills is always maintaining control of the match.  This means never lose your composure because it will make you slip up and lose the match. I cannot tell you how many times I have Shoryukened upon getting off the ground because I was so frustrated.  In a match you have to always keep control of the character. Don’t ever let your opponent bait you into doing an attack you don’t want to do.

6.      Learn to time your focus attacks.  For those of you who don’t know, Focus attacks are a new game mechanic added to the Street Fighter genre designed to make the game a bit more interesting.  Focus attacks is a charged heavy attack that can stun the opponent for a good 2 seconds; giving you time string more combos.  They can be charged long enough to cause a guard break, or even cancelled into and out of from other attacks (both regular and special) at the cost of 2 EX Bars.  Many advanced players know when to fully execute this skill to either stun the opponent or cancel and start a new combo. I suggest you practice your Focus Attacks/Cancels on training as much as possible because you will definitely need to know how to use this in serious matches.

Smell my feet

7.      Pick your Ultra’s wisely.  Every Street Fighter is given the option of 2 Ultras  Some Ultra Combos are easily to combo into, some do more damage, and some just look cool (Check out Evil Ryu’s Death Fist when you have time)  . It’s up to your to pick which best suits you.

DAMN THATS AWESOME!

8.      Lastly, I would suggest watching your saved Replay fights. This tip is plain and simple because all you have to do is watch how to fight and take keen notes on what mistakes you’ve made in the past and how you can avoid them in the future. You should also observe the opponent as well, so you can avoid those certain combos or tricks in the future.
Well there you have it, a complete and in depth guide to improving your Street Fighter 4 skills. Please comment or leave some feedback on how this guide was. Was it informative? Did it help you? And also feel free to leave your own tips down that helped improve your gaming as well.

SF Unite

Hey whats up people. This is James Grayson here (Just call me Gray) and if you're here because you think that this blog is going to be about Competitive Fighting Games or (CFG) you're damn right. This post will be the first of many and my specialty is Fighting Games.

Now before I begin, let me tell you a few things about myself. Obviously, I'm a huge gamer. (BTW Grammer isn't my strong suit, so igore the spell errors) I'm into competitive games such as Super Street Fighter 4 AE, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Blazblue CSE, SF X Tekken, Fight Night Champion and lastly Halo 4 and Call of Duty (I know the last two aren't fighting games but whatever). I decided to make this blog because I love to compete against other players and learn from them. Also I felt like there was almost no place on the Internet where gamers could rant or talk trash about each other on the Internet...besides facebook.

Honestly, I'm really interested in getting to know other gamers. Not only that I want to have a chance to fight them 1 on 1, if they're interested.  So there you have it.  A blog for gamers, especially those who are competitive and think they're the best in the world. Challenge each other, communicate, start tourneys, even give some advice on your own styles. StreetFighters Unite is meant to be all of that.

If you're still interested and want to be a part of my blog, comment as much as you want. Leave suggestions down on what topic you want to hear about. If you want a match Add me on Xbox ign: SentinelJin.

Alright now let me start off my new blog by talking about one of my favorite Fighting Games today and that would be Super Street Fighter 4. Now this is a game that brings the competitive edge outta me.  When I first bought this game I honestly wasn’t that into it. I thought it would be crappy because I was a fan of the original 2D graphics of Street Fighter Alpha and Third Strike.  But a week into this game completely changed my opinion.

I didn't expect the graphics to be this good

This game kicks ass.  It adds new elements to the game such as Focus Attacks, EX Cancels, as well as killer cinematic Ultra Specials.  But aside from the new game mechanics the game also brings in the long awaited Online Multiplayer where the best players around the world could face each other.  Well that’s Street Fighter 4 in a nutshell.

Guess Sagat's still mad at that scar.

Despite the overall awesomeness of this game there are annoying aspects of it that I hate. For example in online play there are definitely some bitchy characters to fight against. I honestly have troubles fighting either Zangief (Damn Russian grabber) Chun-Li (Bitchy Long Legs) Bison (Mr. I do frontflips all day). Now I’m not trying to be a douche who complains about losing to these guys because I know there are some awesome players but I honestly hate fighting certain characters because they’re so damn hard to beat.  I pretty certain there are some characters we all hate fighting against. (cough Seth)
